WENDY HOUSTON was born in Dunbarton in She has always been interested in drawing and painting and considered going to art school aged eighteen but decided to follow a career in the NHS. While working in Glasgow, she began to attend evening classes at Glasgow School of Art and her life took a very different turn. She was encouraged to prepare a portfolio and apply for entry to art school. Being rather diffident, she was surprised and delighted to be accepted as a full time student in
She graduated BA (Hons) Fine Art in and has never regretted her change of career. She has taken part in many exhibitions since graduating and she now paints full time. Wendy paints mainly in oils and sometimes acrylics on board. She enjoys the rich fluidity of oils and the texture and consistency of the paint. She moved to Milnathort in and has been greatly inspired by the local landscape of Kinrossshire and Fife.

Wendy Houstoun is a movement/theatre artist who remains committed to finding new forms to address her themes. Over the years, her work has developed a uniquely distinctive style that combines movement with text, and meaning with humour.
Since , Wendy has worked extensively as a solo performer, and in collaboration with companies and artists whose work challenges, enriches, and extends the boundaries of, dance and theatre. Her work with DV8 Physical Theatre, Tim Etchells and Forced Entertainment, film-maker David Hinton, Jonathan Burrows, Nigel Charnock, performance artist Rose English, Gloria Theatre, Lumiere and Son Theatre and Ludus Dance Company has explored large and small stages, specific sites, film and installation.
Wendy’s solo pieces, Haunted, Daunted and Flaunted, Happy Hour(commissioned by Chisenhale Dance Space), and The 48 Almost Love Lyricshave all toured Europe. She has made two films, Touched and Diary of a Dancer for BBC with David Hinton.
