    Name:Jim Tomsula

    Title: Defensive Line Coach

    Experience: 11 years

Bio: The fiery Tomsula is regarded as one of the better defensive line coaches in the NFL, and this will be his second season in that capacity with the Washington Redskins. Tomsula previously spent seven seasons as the defensive line coach of the 49ers before being promoted to head coach in 2015. The Niners went 5-11 during a tumultuous year that followed the abrupt departure of Jim Harbaugh and the unexpected retirements of Patrick Willis and Chris Borland, and included the benching of a suddenly ineffective Colin Kaepernick.

Tomsula managed to keep the team relatively competitive, but their record was the second-worst in the NFC, leading to Tomsula’s dismissal at the end of the year. San Francisco’s loss was Washington’s gain, as Tomsula has helped shape a young and talented Redskins’ defensive line group.

Fun Fact: Tomsula spent nearly a decade in NFL Europe before moving over to the domestic side. He was the defensive coordinator of the Berlin Thunder during their championship season of 2004. In 2006, the final season of NFL Europe, Tomsula was the head coach of the Rhein Fire, leading them to a 6-4 record.
